On the road
Day 7
April 2

I have been traveling for a few days now. I soon hope to reach the Tabard Inn and rest my weary self. The weather has brought about many rain showers as is typical in April, but today the sun has began to shine. While on this road I have encountered many people, including many interesting men. My mind often wanders to thoughts regarding my last marriage, and I wonder if I might find a new husband during my trip. I have already out lived five of my husbands and have been seeking the prospect of my sixth. I find my current solitude dull and hope to find a young man to wed.

In the city of Bath
March 25th
Day one

The hard life of marriage has brought me more troubles,
and as I sit in church my mind wanders to the long journey that lies ahead,
for I have decided to leave on a holy pilgrimage.
I pray to God on this Sabbath that my journey will be safe.
I also pray that my brand new leather shoes are not ruined.
Speaking of shoes, I must finish packing for my trip when I return home.
I also pray that the arrangements made for the upkeep of my home prove to have been adequate by the time of my return.
I plan to depart tomorrow at first light.
